my story

My name is Daniel Ramirez and I am a photographer from Austin, Texas. I began taking photographs around the age of 15 on an LG G3 (really old phone). Quite frankly, those photos never came out very good. However, I did take one of my all time favorite photos on that phone which, to me, emphasizes the fact that you do not always need the fancy equipment to capture an award winning photo.

I took my first photography class in high school which was taught by my one and only mentor, Debra Flynn. I was always wanting to get the perfect angle of a building, the intimate texture of a leaf, or the drastic contrast in a person's face, and Mrs. Flynn was the one to guide me on how to accomplish that while maintaining a unique style. While she taught me technicality and methods of photography, she also taught me how to be a storyteller and an artist. Throughout the years, Mrs. Flynn had guided the way for me to be featured in galleries and win multiple state and competition awards.

I have had many great opportunities since. I've been brought out to photograph a congressman at the Texas State Capital, an orchestra at a Gala, an engagement, products and events for local businesses, and many wonderful seniors to celebrate their graduation.

In this gallery, you will see some old and some new photographs. Some portraits, some landscapes, and a lot more. Truth is, I love to take all sorts of photos; I can never stick to just one category. All photographs not only give the person behind the lens a chance to share a story, but they come with the opportunity to learn and improve. As I go on 5+ years in photography, I am taking every opportunity and click of the shutter to become a better storyteller. There are no limits to what you can do with a creative mind and a camera.

Wow, that got deep. It was just supposed to be an about me page. There's so much more that I'd like to tell, but I'll leave it at that.

Enjoy.
